The Antique: This chart contains all sixteen pattern pages from a tiny paper pattern album passed out as a souvenir in 1851 at Prince Albert's Crystal Palace Great Exhibition. They were mass produced inexpensively but are rarely found today due to the nature of the flimsy paper and the effects of time. Other similar pattern booklets were printed throughout Germany, France and England in the mid-nineteenth century. This one in particular became a source for many motifs, lettering and numbers that appear on Bristol Orphanage Samplers and other samplers produced during the era. See and compare for example: Cross Stitch Antiques's Amelia Fox 1868, a Bristol Orphanage Sampler, and Annie Matilda Moss, 1872, England.
What a thrill to have at hand the source of the exquisite patterns that the young girls used over 175 years ago to design and create their now sought after samplers!
This tiny but exquisite pattern album measures 2 ¼ inches wide by 3 inches high and has paper rings to insert a pencil (long gone) attached to the front and back covers. It opens into accordion-like folded pages, sixteen in number, printed in red and green on graph paper. These pattern albums were given out freely to the ladies attending Prince Albert's Great Exhibition as a souvenir and contained patterns, lettering, numbers and motifs for needlework.The model was stitched 40 count Tobias by Seraphim Linen
This item will be released during Nashville Needlework Market on March 1st, 2024. Patterns released during Market will not begin shipping until we return to the shop March 4th. As always, you're welcome to Make a Kit!

Terms & Conditions for Preorders and Special Order items-
- Patterns generally arrive within a month of their release (Market and Expo times can cause variation). New releases can be about a month while existing releases may only take a few days as they are simply being restocked.
- Fabric will be dyed to order and time varies between the Dyers. Generally between 4-12 weeks.
- Threads generally arrive within a few days to a month.
- Should you want to cancel any items within your order, you will only be refunded in store credit less a restocking fee.
- If I cannot fulfill your order due to supply issues or discontinuance, I will refund your original payment method and contact you for alternatives.
Preorder & Special order items are NOT IN STOCK and will ship within 2 business days of arrival. If you order these items and other in stock items, your entire order will ship when your FULL ORDER is in stock. Please contact me if you need items from your order sooner, we can work on it together.
Cancellations
Refunds for cancelling any item with Preorder in the title, will be issued as a Store Credit less a 30% restocking fee. All cancellations are refunded in Store Credit only.
Postage & Handling is not refundable as it is a service that is not refundable once a shipment is mailed and accepted by the carrier
