This sampler takes its name from the town of Blairgowrie, located in the region of Perthshire in the center of Scotland. The town, with its red stone buildings, grew rapidly due largely to the town's location on the banks of the River Ericht. In the 18th century the Blairgowrie area became a huge center for growing flax. It seems only fitting that this sampler, which was created in the style reminiscent of old Scottish samplers, should take its name from a Scottish town with such a rich textile history.

This original sampler contains many traditional Scottish features. These include the large alphabet of illuminated letters stitched in alternating red and green thread, an undulating floral border, a pansy band, floral motifs, pointed trees with diamond-shaped leaves, crowns, rabbits, birds, a peacock with open tail feathers, many family initials, and a large house centered squarely in the bottom half of the sampler. The house in this design was adapted from a house on an antique Scottish sampler.

The model for this project was stitched on 36 count Light Examplar from Lakeside Linen and Designs, Inc. and uses Needlepoint Inc. silk threads.

Terms & Conditions for Preorders and Special Order items-

  • Patterns generally arrive within a month of their release (Market and Expo times can cause variation). New releases can be about a month while existing releases may only take a few days as they are simply being restocked.
  • Fabric will be dyed to order and time varies between the Dyers. Generally between 4-12 weeks.
  • Threads generally arrive within a few days to a month.
  • Should you want to cancel any items within your order, you will only be refunded in store credit less a restocking fee. 
  • If I cannot fulfill your order due to supply issues or discontinuance, I will refund your original payment method and contact you for alternatives. 

Preorder & Special order items are NOT IN STOCK and will ship within 2 business days of arrival. If you order these items and other in stock items, your entire order will ship when your FULL ORDER is in stock. Please contact me if you need items from your order sooner, we can work on it together. 

Cancellations

Refunds for cancelling any item with Preorder in the title, will be issued as a Store Credit less a 30% restocking fee. All cancellations are refunded in Store Credit only.

Postage & Handling is not refundable as it is a service that is not refundable once a shipment is mailed and accepted by the carrier
