Provenance: This sampler's appeal was its similarity to Bristol orphanage motifs, bands and alphabets. While clearly not a Bristol school sampler, as it was stitched at Daglingworth School, curiosity leads one to wonder why similar motifs? Daglingworth lies only fifty miles from Bristol, England. It has been found that pattern booklets were used to create the motifs and borders used on Bristol samplers but these patterns were also used throughout England, France and Germany at the time. These tiny paper pattern booklets were the source of many of the schoolroom samplers stitched in the mid to late 1800s. Compare the Amelia Fox Bristol orphanage sampler stitched in 1868 to Annie Matilda's stitched in 1862. Many common elements appear, as does the monochrome thread colors. Students at schools at these times, whether orphans or not, were taught the basics of sewing and educational instruction so that once grown they might be able to obtain a position of use in society.

  • Patterns generally arrive within a month of their release (Market and Expo times can cause variation). New releases can be about a month while existing releases may only take a few days as they are simply being restocked.
  • Fabric will be dyed to order and time varies between the Dyers. Generally between 4-12 weeks.
  • Threads generally arrive within a few days to a month.
  • Should you want to cancel any items within your order, you will only be refunded in store credit less a restocking fee. 
  • If I cannot fulfill your order due to supply issues or discontinuance, I will refund your original payment method and contact you for alternatives. 

Preorder & Special order items are NOT IN STOCK and will ship within 2 business days of arrival. If you order these items and other in stock items, your entire order will ship when your FULL ORDER is in stock. Please contact me if you need items from your order sooner, we can work on it together.

Refunds for cancelling any item with Preorder in the title, will be issued as a Store Credit less a 30% restocking fee. All cancellations are refunded in Store Credit only.

Postage & Handling is not refundable as it is a service that is not refundable once a shipment is mailed and accepted by the carrier
